I was one of the last to post on the board a day or so before it was taken down. That board is often the scene of arguments often started by someone intentionally. The many 'new' and young people 'being Americans' take up the bait and run with it. My last post about such a situation was to that effect and is what happens when there is no moderator to stop it. Shortly after, the site was taken down. Now maybe this has nothing to do with it. Over the last year, I found nothing usefull on that board but thats just me. I have already decided to stop visiting the board, pass word or not. I have enought Ford boards I post on with out the nonsense that goes on there. Disagreements happern now and then over missunderstandings, lack of knowledge and just plain manners and tack, but most work through it.
The board is still up over there the link on the main page was removed. For awhile I couldn't figure out why now I know . Sorry for the confusion Stefan I tried to be as clear as possible but thats not always easy to do online.... Ya know it's kinda sad really fordmaverick.com was the first Maverick/Comet site I came across shortly after buying my Mav. When I first got it I didn't know anything about it really or cars in general for that matter I went online one day and did a search for Mavericks and came across that site shortly after that I found MavMark's site and then finally this one. Now I know more about my car and i'm far better off now in that department then I was a year ago. But as others have said it's his site and if he wants to privatize it then more power to him there are still the other two . Just my 3 Cents
i think its totally rediculous..everyone on that particular message board is bashing me for it. but i dont see why hes trying to make a quick buck.I do not know him, but thats the way he's making it appear..charging ten bucks a year for stuff like ebay links??!?!? the kind of stuff people can get for FREE and stuff thats redily available for free nonetheless..all it will do, in my opinion, is weaken the already small maverick/omet community..but hey, at least we can all still come here right
for those who do not know i go by mavericknutt on maverick.com. i guess i'll say my piece about this here too. i was given the same choice as everyone else.......and i did join Mid-America Maverick and Comet club. I am now and will stay a member of the MCCI i joined the other club cause it is closer to me and i do enjoy talking to these mav-people they have always made me feel welcome so i do not see what the problem is? these people are the reason i joined the MCCI.
Yep, that says it, money always messes up everything. I for one will miss that board.you never know how much you need or miss something until you dont have it. btw MarkG I'm sure you will read this, and you are special, things are/were going better than ever, but i guess not even the Mav/Comet elite can stray from money.huh?
i will most certainly miss that board, but i think its kind of messed up for people to be going off on mark griffith, im sure he had to put alot of thought into the decistion to change his site, and i don't think its fair to pass judgement without hearing his side and what sparked his decion, i don't know the man hardly at all, but i spent alot of time at his site, and at maverickmatt's message board, and will miss the board alot..
This sh*t is really starting to make me mad!!! Now the fordmaverick.com message board is completely shut down!! I'm sorry but this is complete bull sh*t!!!!!
Here's a little story about Mark that may shed some light. Last year at the round-up I ask mark what made him decide to make a web site, this is what I remember. Mark was a programer and got a new job, to keep up on programing he decided to make a web site Maverick. com was born. Geocities changed there web site polices and started charging more money for their support so the site was shut down. After receiving many e-mails about the site he fired it back up, I'm not sure if he changed from Geocities but he did foot the bill for this free site. Originally he had a message board that he made. He met Matt and matt offered to make or had a board that he could incorprate into his site. Now matt has a computer in his garage that houses the board and again this is funded by Matt and possably Mark. When I met Matt on the way to the round-up and Mark at the round-up they both expressed that they would like their bord to be more serious with lots of good information. Myself and a couple others talked them into keeping it the way it was. Don't get me wrong I like both boards but, I fit in better with the more relaxed style. The information is there but, most of the time it's given with a joking twist, here on this board you better have your facts straight or someone going to let you have it. I bealive that Mark and Matt made a chat room but it was not very succesfull. Mark S. offered his to the site and at first it was not used all that much. Now it's taken off I can't say why Mark S. was not in the loop nor will I guess. About six or so month ago Mark added a donation button to the site, to help with the cost, through paypal and Chris Stout posted a message for help with the site. As we can see nobody helped, Now the site is part of the club and members help fund it and have some input on how it's run. As for weakening the maverick community I don't think so, most of the poeple visiting these boards are not members of MCCI for one reason or another, and now they have another choice. Right now I see the MAMCC as a sub-club, most of the poeple are in both clubs. Now that could change depending on membership. I'm sure once the site is completed both members and non-menber will be satisfied, I could be wrong though, say-la-vee.
Just in case anyone is wondering.... The chat room is still up and running for anyone to access, as are the message and classifieds boards at my site: http://www.maverickcomet.com
Dang, looks like I missed all the fun. I never knew about that board. Not trying to change the subject, but I want to commend Stephen for this awsome site & message board. During the past few years, I have been involved in some knock-down-drag-out wars on this forum, but Stephen has always been fair and impartial about it. I know he doesn't condone or encourage flame wars, but he has never been "censor happy" and tries to let people speak their minds. It is neat to see how much this site has grown from starting out as a small, not very well known intrest. The Maverick is not the only classic car that I like, but it's a great car and I am thrilled that so many of you are keeping them alive and road-worthy...
