SO i picked up an 82 302, not sure what out of probably a grand marquis. anyway i've noticed i need to convert the oil pan to a front pump configuration, I've been looking online but notice they don't have anywhere for the dipstick to go. I'm assuming i need to change the timing chain cover to fix this issue. I just want to make sure thats my only option and where the best place to get parts is. Thanks

I believe there is a unmachined pad on the timing cover that can be drilled to install the the dip tube...

If you don't know the pedigree of engine, would still be a good idea to pull cover and check timing chain...

If you look at the truck pans, most of them in the 80's have the dipstick into the side of the pan.. My 84' F150 has a 351w in it, and the dipstick tube threads into the pan. You can do some checking at your local junk yard and see what all they have... Hope that helps
