so the gauge cluster in my 77 is disintigrating and only a few of the functions actually work. i had a spare 70 cluster and was going to swap all the gauges on to it but the female conector hole is a different size. i belive i remember this being discussed on here before but i am having a hard time finding it. what year of cluster do i need to find? what changes did they make from year to year on the clusters?

    I have a 71 cluster in my 75.

It was pretty easy to figure out just having the two side by side.

With that tech article it should be a breeze!

While not expensive....it will not be cheap. The last one I saw on ebay (last week) fetched near $40. Hard to find....and people need them.

I would go with the parts swap as decribed in the other posts.

I really don't think you will get the 1970 cluster to work for you. Totally different plug. You need to find the correct cluster that will fit your plug. See the links that were posted...they will help.

Thats what I love about this site. I gain so much knowledge just reading post. I had no idea my 70 cluster was different then the rest of the years.

I used a 75 cluster in my 74...after I swapped the gauges so I can go 120 mph and run regular fuel instead of unleaded only.

I Love the silver inlay in the early gauges, plus more MPH is always nice :D

It's a little slow, but that's due more to the 27" tall tires I run.
The stock speedometer never worked so I don't have that to compare it to.

I tried a 71 cluster on my 74 and one of the circuit tracks crossed over the plug receptacle hole. I didn't want to cut into the curcuit board to clear the hole for the harness plug. I ended up buying a cluster from a member for $25 or $30
