From the looks of that, it was a complete kit that any dealership could buy, kinda like the serial number engraving or paint protection.

I bought a new Bearcat from Century Lincoln Mercury in Greenville, SC in Feb 1972 as a high school graduation present. I know for a fact that they also sold them at the dealership in Athens, Ga, as that is where I first saw one and wanted one the summer before. None that I ever saw, anywhere, had a front air dam. All were local dealer options, so you just had to tell them what color and tranny you wanted, and they installed the equipment there. All of them Know about were 302's. I understand that some GT's were 6 cylinder, but never a Bearcat. You couldn't install Thrush side pipes on a 6 cylinder (but I bet some have tried!) Thus, there will be no Marti report that can verify it was a original Bearcat. I'll try to dig up an old picture and post it if you promise not to laugh at my hair style.

Sure! That would be awesome, Rev Ron! I'm still chasing this down trying my best to find hard proof. I know that the car is what Mom says because we knew a guy from the dealership that lived pretty close to our city at the time. He had mentioned to me when I was driving it, that he was gonna buy that one but she had beat him to it! Lol! That was cool! He had actually worked on putting some of the parts on the car. I sure wish I could remember his name! And I promise not to laugh!
