All you need is a scoop to turn a regular Comet hood into a Comet GT hood. A cougar uses the same scoop and I believe they are sold new by Auto-Krafters.
The comet hood is different than any Maverick hood. The Comet hood sticks out in the front, and to put a comet hood on a Maverick, you would need to change the grill, part of the grill support, and possibly the front splach apron and the front bumper. If you want the hood scoop, it will also mount on to a Maverick hood.
The Shelby de Mexico Mavs used a comet hood with the GT scoop and comet grill but retained the maverick bumper.
Craig is right I believe that Shelby Maverick had a modified stone guard if it had a Maverick bumper. The Comet bumpers are different than the Maverick bumpers of '70-'72. (Comet wasn't made until '71) From '73 on the front bumpers were the same on all cars but the stone guards (between the grill and bumper) are unique to each car as they fit the contour of the grill. Hope that helps. Seth
1 more thing... ...there are reproductions of the Comet GT hood in fiberglass. The scoop is formed into the hood. Seth
