Having trouble with floor pans conversation.

    I've recently bought floor pans from Melvin's classic Ford parts and the floor pans aren't fitting in properly. Can someone please tell me how you made them work so I can tell the auto body shop.

    Thanks. I told him that it will need to be modified but liked seeing want you have done. It puts thing into perspective. I guess I'll have to go to the shop and see what he's talking about.

    I think u made/make a gud point! If a lot of guys do it in their garage ... a body man should be able to figure it out...

    1972 Maverick 2 door.Original V-8 3 spd std shift.Also a 72 one owner Sprint sporting a 351 Windsor
    Tell em to make a pattern of the patch they need, then transfer it to the floor pan patch section.The rocker side of the mustang floor pan needs to be cut back and a new pinch weld rail bent up on it. Then it drops in...After cutting the toe board section off. Its just easier to do it that way...Yeah, I wouldnt trust a "body/collision" shop that cant figure out how to section in a chunk of floor pan either.

    That's exactly what I was thinking. If they can't figure out how to use mustang pans start looking for someone else. They should be able to make their own floor pans from scratch, much less having ones already in front of them.if they can't do that I'd hate to see them work on the outside of the car where you actually see what they did.if it was me I'd start looking elsewhere.

    Its one of the most basic things you can do in fabrication. Hopefully they don't have to replace the inner torque box.......:90:

    What ever you do...don't cut the whole floor pan out or you take a chance of the car folding in the middle. With a uni-body it is best to replace the floor pan 1/4 at a time

    Great advice. Many shops weld in a temporary brace(s) when removing an entire floor pan.

    I bought a 67 Mustang drivers side pan for my car from National Parts Depot,a friend put it in with minor difficulty.

    it's like any other rust repair, you will not know how much is there until you/they cut it out.

    I would say if you take it to a shop: $600 to $800 range
