    i have a 70 maverick and i tried to put a 302 in with stock headers but the headers were to wide on the engine and hit the sides. what headers can i uese so they dont hit and i can get the moter in?

    u cant put the motor in with the headers attached,you have to put them on after ya get the motor in.

    I don't know about the stock headers, but aftermarket ones need to go in from underneath also. Try that if they do not go in from on top.:)

    agreed, my 6901's had to go in from the bottom with the engine in place. Still had to jack the drivers side.

    If you are useing stock headers from a mustang (fox type) they dont fit...Get hooker 6901s'...

    I believe I pulled the 302 out of my '72 with stock manifolds attached. In fact, the manifold bolts would not come out with the engine in place -- they hit the shock towers. Remember trying to remove the engine lift hooks and I couldn't do it with the engine in place.

    If your engine won't go in with the manifolds attached maybe you don't have Maverick exhaust manifolds? Headers are a whole different set of issues.

    mine had to go no from underneath, one at a time, with tilting the motor for both sides... took two sets to get it right, had to tweak it a lil and distorted the flange on the first set, also warped, but would do it again...

    are the Hedman 88300,, the same from the hooker headers 6901's
