If you do not mind me asking and if you know what were those two colors you had between the Calypso Coral and Grabber orange?

They are all PPG 2 stage paints. The one closest to Calypso Coral is 69982 (known as "Corporate Food Orange") and was not ever a stock color for any car. The one closest to Grabber Orange is MX706399 and was a stock color on something, but I forget. I almost went with the "Corporate Food Orange", but I'm glad I stayed with Calypso Coral. I wanted Orange, but now Calypso Coral is on the orange side. You just can't tell from small samples. Also, as I noted earlier, I think the colors differ a littel by manufacturer. Some Calypso Corals are more red than mine. I also see another post today showing Calypso Coral and it appears more orange than red. Lastly, Calypso Coral was actually called "Home on the Orange" for an early Maverick 1970 ish.

Awesome thank you! Yea just like you I really like the Corporate Food Orange. It looks like a good orange color, but like you said so is the Calypso Coral. I want something that is a little lighter that the Calypso Coral so something with a little more orange like the other color. I might have to look into that. But I bet the Calypso looks really good in the light!!

texasbb14, If you really are interested in the Corporate Food Orange, I'd be willing to send you my sprayout. I'd suggest taking it to a car show and finding a match to get the real effect. Send me a PM/Converstaion with your address if interested.

I know this is an old thread, but I am also considering Calypso Coral for my Maverick right now. I just purchased my new Dynacorn Grabber hood and also found a rear spoiler glass mold. Getting a few more pieces to complete the transformation from the 77 to the classic Grabber look, so really excited to see it done. I need to get rid of some minor rust in the rear fender wells too, so time to re-paint the car. I love the color it is now which is more reddish orange, and I get tons of compliments on the color, but I have no idea what it is.

I've heard color matching is pretty easy now, so it's down to this or the Coral. I have a friend who has a Torino Cobra Jet Twister painted in this Calypso Coral from the factory and I have to say it's stunning! Especially in the sun, it literally changes with light but it's a real eye catcher. Glad to see a Maverick here in the color which confirms my choice, so thanks for sharing!
