or those of you who have been curious about my next project it is finally time to unveil it. it isn't pretty yet but it is back on the street. it started out as a south carolina car that was supposed to be driveable. (HAHA, NOT) when we got it it had NO front seat material left. the springs were gone as was the metal wires holding the padding. the owner had put pillows in the frame to be able to sit behind the wheel. the front suspention was totally shot as were the u joints. after replaceing the seat i took it out for a test drive and at 30 mph it would shake your teeth out. i took it back in and parked it. when i opened the radiator up it was as thick as pudding and bright red from rust. 3 hours of flushing later i am finally starting to get all the rust out. i replaced the bench seat with mitsubishi eclipse buckets. they fit perfectly and had minimal installation. i had to replace the 1 bbl carb and dump the gas tank (full of water) and replace the egr valve to get the engine to run. the front suspention has been transplanted from the remains of my 4 door to this car as was the rear axle. the rims and tires were salvaged as well. it now runs down the road easily. the 200 6cyl is a far cry from the rumble of my old v-8. almost makes me want to cry. i have plans for that engine prior to dropping it in this car. BUUUAAAHHHAAAA If all pans out the words evil, mean, wicked, and nasty, might apply. i know there is a long way to go but per RAZORSHARPS instructions i had to get it back on the road for silver springs. i guess i am ahead of schedule. now all i need is more time and money to finish. fred mccutchen, hottie2, and i are thinking of some pretty bright paint schemes for these 2 rebirths.she has started rebuilding her next one as well. i will keep you posted as progress is made. P.S. PART-TIME, THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP AND SUPPORT GETTING THIS GIRL RUNNING! YOU ARE A GOOD FRIEND.
Glad to see SOMEBODY listens to me around here Seriously, the car is looking good! Very solid. Those seats look pretty comfortable too.
Jason, If this car comes even close to looking as good as your four door was I will be impressed. Keep us posted. Ed
Jason, Good to see that car moving forward. Despite it being a bit "used-up", it still is a very solid-looking car that you are starting with, so that is a great starting point. Just about everything that can be unbolted is going to be rebuilt anyway, right? What's wrong with the factory color scheme ... it's the same as my Comet ... (jk,... I will be changing my interior to black ... exterior paint will be a surprise)
