All Maverick hoods are the same and will fit with no problems except for the prop rod location. The 70 was unique to itself. The 71-75 are the same. And the 76-77 had the short rod. The 70 prop rod hole was just to the left side of the center. The 71-75 hole was on the left side rail near the front. The 76-77 was on the right side rail near the center.
Not that is of any importance, but my 71 Grabber hood has the hole on the front support, not on the side like my old hood. I guess it was a very early 71 hood. Probably built in the end of 70. Kind of interesting because I had never thought about the differences in the hood prop holes other than in the case of the switching my hoods. I originally thought it was different because it was a Grabber hood. -Corbin
I have a 77 with the hood prop on the front lip. The 71 and 74 that I have also owned all had the hood prop on the front as well. I have never actually seen one with the prop rod on the side of the hood.
Come to think of it, the 76 4dr I just bought has the rod on the left side rail. The 76 2 dr I junked a few monthe ago had the short rod on the right side. I guess consistency wasn't one of Ford's better traits. But anyway, there are 3 different prop rods. I guess which one you get just depends on what day of the week the car was built.
The long support rod was put on that '76 because the car was being shipped to Texas. [Everything is bigger in Texas, you know]! (I guess you might say that this helps to SUPPORT the theory, at least).
JOB Yes!!! I start work Monday full-time with the same company that laid me off. They say business is picking up. (It's no wonder with all the other machine shops in Austin closing). I'm even getting better pay than when I left!
