No early Mustang is beyond saving anymore, just have a look in the latest Mustang Monthly and see what their doing with a car they pulled from the scrap yard. The cars we cut up 10-15 years ago for parts is what some guys are now restoring.
My friend that did the body work on my Maverick, has a 66 Mustang convertible, and he replaced almost every piece of sheet metal, and it looks awesome!!

I love the old convertibles. The only convertible they have out in the field is a '71 factory 351 Cleveland/4 speed car. It is a rare car in it's own right due to the fact that it's a convertible with that engine and trans from the factory, but the '71-'73's don't seem to quite have the following of the earlier 'stangs. I have quite a few memories riding in that car with my grandpa when I was little, we used to drive it to Stone Mountain to see the laser show and stuff. It has been sitting since '95, was parked because the top was leaking and the previous restoration from the early 80's was starting to fall apart (someone had put alot of bondo in the car). Last I looked, the seats were sitting on the ground due to the floor pan rusting away. :( Hard to believe it's the same car I used to ride in.

He knows he has rusty crap?

It would cost more money than they are worth to fix any of them.

that kind of talk is becoming less and less true everyday, ESPICALLY when it comes to mustangs.

Too bad it's not a 1967 ... I was at Mustangs Unlimited today for the car show ... They had one of the new Prebuilt shells on display for $16,000 ... looks really good ... just need a rusted out parts car to finished it ...

Do you have any clue what those cars are, or what they would be worth totally restored? Especially the Bosses? We're not talking about worthless Mavericks here (don't get me wrong, I love my Mavericks, but these cars aren't even in the same ball park). There is no extensive rust in any of the other cars. The convertible and '66 fastback are by far the worst, the others are nowhere near that bad.

Hmm... maybe it isn't a GT?

    Here are the numbers:

VIN: 6T09C171xxx (66 Mustang built at Metuchen, New Jersey plant with a 2v 289)
BODY: 63A (fastback with standard bucket seats)
    COLOR: X (Vintage Burgundy)
TRIM: 26 (Black With Black Trim)
    DATE: 16M (December 16, 1966)
    DSO: 23 (Philadelphia, PA)
    AXEL: 6 (2.80:1)
    TRANS: 6 (C4)

That '70 XR7 Cougar is 0F93Q505xxx, making it indeed a 428 car. And the Mach 1 in the background is 0T05R109xxx making it a 70 Sports Roof Mach 1 built at Metuchen, NJ with a Ram Air 428 4v Cobra Jet. I was unable to get all the codes of either of those cars due to the fact that door jamb sticker is in poor shape on the Mach 1 and I can't get the door open on the Cougar.
