It appears you received a great deal on price considering the condition the car is in. However, being 40 years old, you need to expect problems. The good news is that this can be overcome.

The Contact Coastal Motors and speak with Omar or Christian. They rebuilt my '73 Comet's 302 in 2012. They did an excellent job and the Comet runs great!

Do not forget that a 1980/82 Ford Fairmont, or Mercury Zephyr engine will also work just fine for your car. The Ford Granada 6cyl engines are probably easier to find and will bolt right in.

    BTW: Welcome from Lizella GA

a word of advise keep your old motor until you get a new one youre going to need the smog equipment unless la has different smog laws than sacramento

Thanks all! So interesting learning about all this stuff. everyone is so friendly too! @junrai I will keep that in mind, but I think I am going to probably just sell it and try again.

I'd think about resources in that you may want to keep this if nothing more than for parts...
