Im looking to see what is the best way to cut out the holes on the scoops. some kinda metal, but i wanna put a kinda mesh on the inside.. similar to maverickmans style. only have the one pair, dont wanna mess them up, so can someone help me out with some opinions?

They really won't help that much to open them up. Too small to pass much air, but would let a lot of water get in on your motor.....

They are made from zinc (pot metal) You could drill out the faux mesh on the scoops or carefully cut out the faux mesh with a die grinder or perhaps a roto zip tool. The wont give you much in the way of ram air (if thats what your looking for) But... Any cool air you feed the engine is better than hot air.

On my first car I drilled out the fake mesh like Mavman said. It didnt work very well to get air to the motor though. Just too small and poorly located for any ducts to be effective. IF anything put some deflectors in behind them and use them to get some cooler air into the engine bay. Short of that I cant see it doing much good.

Im more of doing it for looks not air flow... and rain wouldnt bother me much either, its a 5.0 fuel injected so cuts outs is personalization only

I opened up the '66 GTO scoop on my Falcon and it does help in evacuating hot air from under the hood along with getting the air filter wet when driving in the rain. The air coming out of the scoop was 22 degrees hotter than the air around the distributor. Looking through the distortion from the heat wave at a traffic light is kinda cool…almost psychedelic.
