Howdy all. Got myself a nice blue '77, 2-door 250 AT for $100. Needs a paint job and seat covers, and new clutches in the tranny, plus it's missing both gauges. Mavs and Comets being pretty scarce around here, I was wondering what other speedo/gas gauge combos might fit in there? They're fairly large openings in the dash, and most of the round stuff I find at the junkyards is about 1/2" too small. I'd hate to have to drop $180+ at the speed sport shop LOL...

Keep in mind that only 1975-1977 guages will work in your car. (I think 1975 is the starting point). Those years were made of the white plastic and it was very vunerable to turning to dust for some reason. Hence...I imagine that is why yours is gone.

Will a 75 fit a 72 and vice versa? I had an extra i was going to white gage, and save the original.

I dont know what exact year the gauges came out of that I put in my 77, but it had the 120 mph speedo.I swapped out the 85mph unit(or whatever it was) everything worked fine. so I dont know why the early wont work?

I am talking about where the wiring harness plugs into the back of the cluster. That is the part that is different. I seem to recall us all having this conversation on here awhile back....but I could not find it.

I recall that conversation a while back as well..... I didnt change any wiring, it was a plug and play.

will it work for anyone else? who knows? I would think so, but you know how
    that goes.

I am going to qualify this statement just so as not to piss anyone off, it was a long time ago, but as for any detail that I recall, I removed the 77 gauges, checked the mounting, they were the same,at least where they mattered, I replaced them with the early gauges. no other work. and no issues.

not stating that anyone elses experiances are the same.(y)
