that doesnt require custom making brackets or searching out a set of bucket seat tracks from a maverick? i think grandia seats were mentioned but that was bcause there already the same right?

i was just curious if anyone has found a seat that at most requires drilling some holes in the floor pan

i used 95 mustang seats in mine. all i did was drill a few holes. it was pretty easy. i think as long as you dont get wide seats you should be ok. just make sure you get the tracks that come with the seats and all youll need is some washers bolts and a drill.

I have heard Granada seat brackets are same as cat hump Mavs.
    Don't know for sure though!
The tracks are the big thing.
You can use just about any seats with the right tracks.
You just mod the seat frame to accept the tracks.

    It is best that way.
When you drill holes in the floor you have safety concerns to think about.

Stock seat mounting positions have reinforcements in the floor pan.
They are there so you don't slam on the brakes hard or get into a collision and go flying around the cabin strapped to a seat!
Think of all the forces involved considering your weight and the weight of the seat.
All that potential energy wouldn't need much to pull up through a thin floor pan.

If you drill new holes, make sure they get in the reinforced part, or make honest to goodness reinforcements for the new holes. Same thing with seat belts. They have major reinforcement.

not real sure which hump your talking about. if your talking about the center hump above the trans its not much of a problem, you may be sitting a lil closer to the door but not a problem. or if your talking a bout the one that if i remember correctly its about a inch or 2 high and a lil more than 1 by 1 ft. i didnt have a problem with it really. i just put washers anywhere that was too low to even it out. but at the same time you do need to make sure its safe. make sure the pan is in good condition. i havent had any problems with mine and its accually been wrecked a couple times since and im still fine. the car took all the damage which was a total of around 2000 dollars to fix but good as new with in a month of the wreck thanks to that handy dandy savings account. but no 2 cars are the same nor the drivers so the safe side is most likely the better and smarter one, exspeacialy if you have a family who may ride in it too. but to each there own, im no expert on anything.

Funny...nobody said..."X seats bolt RIGHT IN"...they all said they needed to be drilled and/or need spacers.

Are there no "direct swap fits" out there"

I am searching for the same thing. Closest I have found is mid-90s escorts with 1.5" overlap on each side, needing a piece of flat stock to make them fit.

And not all 74s, must be late 74 and up because mine doesn't have it. But it was manufactured in 73, sold as a 74 model.
