Hey guys, it's been a while.
I'm looking at a Versailles rear end. 9" with discs, exactly what I need. Thing is it's a coil spring rear end. I supposed welding isn't too out of the question to get it to work, but the real problem is my dad says it'll be too wide.
I don't see why one car would have two different sizes of axles depending on the type of suspension, but supposedly it's about 2-3" inches wider than the leaf spring version.
    Anyone able to help?

You're not looking at a Versailles rear.

I would bet you found a full sized coil spring Lincoln rear with disc brakes which is way way too wide for our cars.

All Versailles had leaf springs. (y)

Tim, are you referring to the big Lincoln bolt pattern?

What I refer to as my Versailles disc rear has the 5 x 4.5 bolt pattern but the guy I bought it from told me that it actually came out of a Granada Ghia.

Yea, the big Lincolns. Big Mercs/LTDs from'73-'78 had the big pattern too. Good rears to sell to Chevy truck guys who want a 9",but like their truck rallies:).

Oh. Well the guy said it was a Versailles rear. Well that sucks. It was a complete rear end with disc breaks and coils for just $400.

I bet it's a 8.8 out of a late 80's fox body lincoln, LSC Versailles or whatever they called it.
