    I am looking at doing a fiberglass fender , hood, and trunk lid for my '75 2 door. The same company also offers fiberglass bumper .. front and rear for the 71-73 Mavericks ...
    Question .. Will these bumpers bolt up to my '75 .. and if so .. what bumper mounts do I use?

    no,they wont fit,..... the early bumpers have different mounts, to use them you would have to change over to the early brackets and you would also need the early end caps for your 1/4s.

    VFN fiberglass has late model (74-77) bumpers avalible in fiberglass. very good quality, but they cost more than other 'glass mfg's.

    word of advise...if your looking at unlimited products stuff-keep looking!

    hmm .. unlimited is that bad? ... anything specific or just poor quality control..

    PS .. where else can I get fiberglass?
    since I notice VFN seems to have a whopping 5 parts for my car

    Additionally ... I'm not averse to changing my bumper mounts since of the 4 .. all are rusted solid two are broken .. one is compressed and rusted solid .. so if I wanted to change to early model bumpers what would it take?

    Since your going with fiberglass, you could probably get away with just the bumper mounts themselves. A steel bumper would require the trunk braces which can be aquired from Mustang parts. To mount them its just a matter of drilling 4 holes. BUt once mounted, you need the quarter panel extensions from a 70-73 car and a lower valance to fill the space under the bumper.

    okay, don't shoot the messenger. but i heard recently that unlimited has been sold and the quality has improved. don't know if this is true or not. but i'd still have to see it to believe it.:)

    dang .. do I even wanna know how bad they were before ..?
    who else carries fenders and hoods .. although mostly I'm just worryed about fenders since thats what got squeshed
    and are there any aftermarket companies that carry bumper mounts.. or are they a "junkyard and pray" item?

    Two 1973 LDO Mavericks (one 4 Drag one 4 driving like Mad on the roads :) ) also have a 75 6cyl Stock! Ok, well sort of Stock :P
    do you know who bought them... (i'm gonna look into this tomorrow) but i'm sorry someone bought them... boy they sure have it in store for them. but think of it this way... if they have molds already why would they make new ones?

    i'm sorry most fiberglass stuff out there is crap unless you own a camaro or mustang or something they sell alot of... even then. if you a body dude... go for it i'm sure you can make it work but if your not..... be prepared to pay to make it fit.

    wait till you take your big bumpers off and pick up a factory steel small bumper:yikes:

    the big bumper feels like 1000 lbs compared to the small bumper

    The front bumper on my 75 weighs 30 lbs
    the chunk of steel reinforcement weighs another 32 lbs
    Bumper filler = 5 lbs

    Hell while im at it ill post the other weights i measured last nite.

    A/C = 55 lbs
    Smog stuff = 26
    Power steering = 25
    Iron Heads = 104 for both
    Radiator = 19
    Battery = 40
    Shock tower braces = 5
    Power brake booster = 10 (guess)
    Sway bar = 12 (guess)
    Cast Intake = heavy (say 35)

    I figured i could easily take 275 lbs just off the front end which included going with the fiberglass front bumper and getting rid of some of the junk and replacing some cast stuff with aluminum.

    Take spare, jack and rear bumper reinforcing out and theres another 85 lbs. off the back.

    After that i got to earn it. :cry:
