    Hi all

    I have a maverick 1972, i already did the swap from I6 to V8(302 HO); for this process, i kept the C4 transmission and the rear end as well.
    So i have to say that it feels great, nice performance. But ( always is a but) in the highway i feel like the engine needs another shift, i am getting low MPG. So please advice if a need a to put a AOD( i have it alreday, when i got the 5.0 engine,it had this trans so i bougth both);
    Or Should i need to put a standar tranny with 5 speed?

    Any advice is welcome

    Thanks in advance

    AOD is fine, just gotta find the crossmember. Contact 71gold on the board, he can fix you up.

    I'd go with the AOD especially if it came with that engine. Like Earl said contact 71 gold and he sells the AOD crossmember that fits a Maverick.:)

    I haven't done the AOD swap but many on here have. The c4 that goes behind the v8 has more clutches, so it is a little beefier. Externals are the same. :)

    The 250 C4 trans is the same as the small block C4 trans. The 170-200 C4 has one less clutch. If you go AOD then you will need more rear end gear to get better MPG's. With your stock gear the engine will be running on the idle circuit instead of the main jets at hwy speeds

    I have a AOD (in my green car), it wasn't nearly the work that the T5 is going to take in my other car.
