Here's our red and white Maverick wearing a set of borrowed Cragers. Everyone who saw the car with the Cragers loved it.

    Gotta be blackwall tho...
I agree with the whole "BF Goodrich doesn't put my name on his car" comment.

You guys are killing me with all of these Maverick with Cragar SS wheel photos. Back in the day (1971) the Cragar SS was the hot set up on a lot of cars, but the Maverick seems to look the best with them. A lot of us used the reverse off set wheels in the back and the were eight or ten inches wide.

That is a good looking vintage setup. What year was that photo?

It seems our little car looks good no matter what rims it gets.

Anyone here have a photo with some Halibrand sprints on one?

I do like the Torq Thrust Ds and the slots but the S/S Cragar is just my favorite.

Torq Thrust D's do nothing for me, they look so roundish. I prefer Mag 500s, Daisy Mags, Slot Mags, Keystone Classics, etc. Cragar SS wheels look good, but they'd not be my first choice. Cragar Starwires are cool too, but they'd look better in a more "luxurious" car, something like a LTD or Grand Marquis.

The photo was taken in 1972, so at the time it was the way we did it. I ordered this car in 1971 and had the dealer put the Cragars on it, so it came off the lot with them. This car came with the 302 V8 and three speed manual on the floor. It had Hooker headers installed two days after it left the dealer and was on the drag strip in less than a week after I took delivery of it. I would love to find out what happened to that car, but I lost track of it in the late 1980's. It would be nice to see what one of these cars would be like with aluminum heads, a stroker kit and a nice injection system.

Does anyone remember the Crager GT wheels. They had dark gray spokes. I had a set on a 65 Mustang back in 1967. They were really hard to get the lug nuts off. You had to have a deep socket and extension with a ratchet. Really fun to change a flat in the rain. I said I would never have Gragers again

I remember the Crager GT wheels, but they weren't as popular as the SS ones back in the 1960's and early 1970's.

The photo was taken in 1972 before the car was a year old. It is a 1971 with the V8 and manual transmission. I ordered it and took delivery in April 1971. I wish that I still had this car today because I would love to see what one of these cars would be like with all of the parts that are now available for the small block Ford engine.

I can not seem to find 4 lug cragar ss wheels. I searched JEGS and they only have the 4 lug in 13 inch wheels. I need some for my 70 Mav. I do not want to do the 5 lug conversion. Can anyone guide me?

Because of the 4-lug pattern for Mavs being different from most 4-lug Fords, it might make the search that much harder, however, I've seen two sets of 4-lug (4 spoke) Crager SS's For Fords on ebay in the last few years....both 14 inch,...one said it was a Ford 4-lug pattern, but didn't specify which Ford 4-lug pattern....the other set was uni-lug, so it would probably work on a Mav.....seller said he had them on his Pinto.

A few months back I saw a Maverick in a parking lot with 4-lug Crager style wheels, but on closer inspection, they had "W" on the caps (Westerns?). Aside from the caps, they looked exactly like Crager SS's
