Robert Raney; Would it be too much to ask that you post those pictures? There are probably a few guys interested in your swap. The Rod & Custom set up is sweet, but as I recall, pretty expensive. I, for one, would like to learn how to put in a rack without the costly kit, if possible. Any help you can offer would be appreciated.
By the way, I think we should start an e-mail campaign to Total Control Products to make a version of their bolt-in rack & pinion conversion for Mavericks. http://www.totalcontrolproducts.com/rack.html
I know that at $1299 for the standard rack (for Mustangs) and $2000 for the power rack, they aren't dirt cheap, but no cutting, no welding is worth something. This is the set up they used on the "Eleanor" Mustangs, used in the making of "Gone in 60 Seconds". Someone has even modified one and installed it in a Mav (in fact, I think someone had posted a pic of it on this board quite a while back). Maybe if they got enough interest demonstrated in it, they would work out the details and produce one for us? In case you are interested in contacting them, here is there e-mail address; tcpllc@totalcontrolproducts.com

The whole reason for going to the mustang II front is to free up engine compartment space. You don't get that with total Control Products, you do get a better handling car.

We paid $2500 for the rod & custom kit, we added power rack and 2" drop spindels. As I stated before this includes everything you need, from the machined bearing for the colum end to the brake lines to motor mounts to wheel bearings. Everything is new except the rack which is rebuilt. That's a reasonable price for not having to figure out how to make this work, or hunt down parts.

My $1.50 on the subject :D

I think I got the lead to these sites from someone else's post in a different forum, but I'm not sure. They were too relevant to what is being discussed here not to post them as part of this thread, so here they are. Sorry if you've seen them already. They were new to me. John B.

P.S. Would be interested in evaluations of these techniques from any of you who know the subject well, or have experience in rack & pinion conversion.
