Four months later... back at it. Started on the fender to cowl apron and lord it does not want to budge. How many spot welds on these aprons?

    Now I have the time...

Just about a year with no real progress, finally getting back at it.

One more stubborn cowl apron that won’t come off!!! 00BBF729-19A6-4916-975B-1F54E27CDD66.jpeg

I just went through the whole cowl repair thing. I ended up making all my own patches and cowl hats. Lotta fun.....

Passenger side cowl apron, I've drilled out all the spot welds, she's not budging. I removed driver's side pretty easily...passenger is just not moving.

You probably don't have all of the spot welds drilled out. Some are very subtle and hard to find. Hit the seams with a wire wheel or some sandpaper and that will "expose" them.

Funny how we reach that point. I planned to have mine be the first car I finished but I just want to drive it. Think I'll make the Malibu the one that's nice instead.

From what I see it looks like you have missed a few spot welds. Run a wire wheel all over it to remove as much paint as possible. You may not have them drill deep enough.

Boom! Hopefully I've learned enough on spot weld removal that the next phase won't take nearly as long.

Good deal! Careful moving it around so it doesn't get all out of wack.
