Why? Mine's registered as classic and has '72 plates. No inspections at all and plate renewal every 5 years...

Straight from page 3 on this doc from SEMA SAN:

Mine is registered like any normal car with custom plates. I pay full price, plus $30 yearly so I can have those 1974 plates.

It is expensive! I wish I had known about CLASSIC classification.

I need to change that ASAP!!!

    Geez...

Sure would have been nice if someone at DPS/DMV would have told me "Hey, instead of registering regularly with classic plates for $30 extra, why don't you register as Classic and save some money?"

I understand that there are restrictions that come with it. I was told I can not drive the vehicle on the roads unless I am in an event or show or parade etc.. I would have to trailer it to the event.

I think that is for Antique, but is it also for Classic?

They say that here also, but I've never talked to anyone that's been stopped by the cops.

I have never heard of anyone getting stopped, either. And my inspection guys have all said the same.

Well, I logged in to the state registration website, and I cannot update my registration until 90 days prior to my current one's expiration. So I marked my calendar for "Maverick Classic Registration online" so that I can remember to do it when the time comes.

Glad you guys brought this up, though. :tiphat::Handshake:thumbs2:

My car has Antique registration and only abt $30.00 every 5 yrears. I have only been stopped once, that was cuz the officer want to get a better look at the car and the normal comments by those who had, or new someone who had one of these cars, way-back-when. Other than that, I drive the car anytime I want w/o any issues. I have a friend w/ a Mav, he has normal plates $100.00 annually - he does'nt drive his car nearly as much as I. But can't convince him otherwise. Unless a person is driving the car to work or somewhere daily, and or, on the same road, same time daily, the probability of having any confrontation w/ the police is remote.
