Sorry, this is not exactly a maverick related question, but someone hear might help him out on a anwser. He has a 63' Falcon with 4 lugs and drums all the way around, and would like to know if a early mustang with 5 lugs and disc brakes would work on it? Thanks, My Uncle
maverick front end parts or granada parts work fine. A bud of mine has a 63 ranchero and I did a cross referance and found out the a-arms take the same ball joints. Just take ALL the front end parts and record the yr of car. then replace with new parts to match the parts car year. Make sure you getnthe control arms and spindles too.
Awesome!!! He will be Happy to hear about that!! I thank you, my mother thanks you, my dad thanks you and oh yeah, my uncle thanks you!!:Handshake
The center link (Drag Bar) has to be a Falcon part. The Mustang is wider than a 60-65 Falcon. Use a 65 Falcon V8 center link and tie rods. It is cheaper and works better than a 63-64 center link. Also your pitman arm will also work. If you use a 63-64 center link you will need to change the steering box and pitman arm/idler arm and all 4 tierods ends (and sleeves). A Maverick rear end will be a closer fit than a Mustang rear end. Use your 63 leaf springs. You will need to use '69 Mustang shock plates if you go with the Maverick rear
Daydreamer there is one problem with using Granada and Monarch spindles and rotors on your Mav or other older Ford, oh yes the work just fine and the are on the front of my Grabber right now! its just if you ever wanted to go vintage and put on a set of 67-69 factory Ford GT rims they won't fit, the center of the newer rotor is bigger than the center hole in the rims, but of course the Magnum 500's will fit fine!
On my 72 mav I have 76 spindles with disc brakes. On the 63 falcon I gave him the option of late mav parts or 75-80 granada, monarch. Just told him to use all the steering and brakes from 1 donor car. He had already decided to use SS cragars. I have found mixing and matching from 2 or more donor cars can sometimes create problems.I'm a furm believer in "dont throw out any spare parts until the car is totally finished". This saved my ass many times. even this winter with my AC. Just my. Ron
The only stuff on the front end of mine from a Granada are the spindles, rotors and calipers, the rest of the parts are 72 Maverick parts, and it is manual steering! the only fan belt is alt/waterpump! don't need A/C or anything else under that hood!!! I'm for adding hp not subtracting it!!! also I have found creating a large amount of Ford parts from compact cars you can with testing will be able to come up with things that work nicely together. I also have several Mustang II rack and pinions w/ all parts. experiment!!!
