Thanks for all of the replies and advice! I really, really appreciate it! I'm planning to head out to look at the truck Tuesday and I have all ideas that I'll be driving it back home. This is exactly the truck that I've been wanting. Again, thanks so much!! Y'all take care! Preston

Nothing wrong with short. I can do everything a tall person can; I just have to use a stool or ladder. I don't have to duck for door jams, ceiling fans, and I can go through the kid's door at the Chick-Fil-A with a slight bend.

Keep a check on the DCA content, Ive saw more of the 7.3,s go down because of this than any other problem.

I have a 2000 Crew cab 4X4 with 325,000 miles on it, it runs great and does not have any leaks. I use it for every thing, hauling, pulling, off road (only on solid ground due to the weight), traveling, and it does pretty good against the chevy and dodge boys. I ordered it late 2000 andpicked it up early 2001 and it is titled as a 2000. The only things that I have done to it are: the cold air system, guages, and a Edge programer.
I had to rebuild the automatic tranny around 200,000 miles ($2,200.00) I have changed the water pump three times (thats a b%@#h), had the turbo rebuilt (the bolts started backing out and Ford sells a repair kit), two sets of lock outs, and about five sets of rotors. other then that cam positon sensers.
I change oil every 5,000 miles and fuel filter every 20,000 miles. If the truck looks good, runs good, and was well maintained I say GO FOR IT.
    Good luck.

Preston, go to any good truck parts store and they will sell you a DCA test kit. It measures the level of , dang can't think of the name right now, in the coolant. In a diesel, and some aluminum engines you have to use supplemental cooling additives to keep the DCA levels low. It prevents electrolisis from eroding the sleeves or cylinder walls. Too much is as bad as not enough, the levels need to be kept at a constant. The kit will have a bunch of test strips that you dip into the coolant and compare the color to the chart on the bottle. You check it every time you change the oil, most times it will not need to be changed as a bottle of SCA will last a long time.

well I just got finished replacing the right hub assembly $500.....the ABS came on a couple of days before heading to the gathering and on the way back I heard a roar for a bit from the front then it went away......well 600 miles there and back then 600 more to alabama to get maverick#8 the bearings went out today coming home from work....I made it home and the hub was hotter than he-- . took it all apard and had to use a slide hammer to get it off....had a nice tick and clunck when rotated. So some time in the next day or two I will take the drivers side off and check it......got 117,000 on it
figure it is time for some things to start wareing out.
    Robert
