Does anyone know what I need to convert a Fairmont to 5 lugs?
They might look good on my son's car if he converted to 5 lugs.
Only problem is that he is 15 and not really in the position to buy these rims and a set of tires, AND do the 5 lugs all at once.
He can only afford to do one or the other.
However, I do have friends at a junkyard with plenty of Rangers if there is a cheap way to do it.
Will Ranger brake rotors bolt right up to Fox spindles?
    That would be cool...
Then I just use Ranger axles and brakes.
Get them for a song and let the boy buy the rims...

I really like the rims and am looking for an excuse to buy them. ;)

That's becoming obvious. ;) They're hideous but if you like them then get after it.

Fairmonts are fox bodies, so what about fox body Mustang parts? Could be the Ranger stuff would work on the rear, but I doubt it would on the front....

I learned something on this site along time ago, no matter what you like you are going to have those that don't like it... Every time I post a pic of my car I get those that don't like the wheels that I have so if you want my opinion here it is..

If you like them go for it and if the price is right and you don't like them later you can always sell them....

Two 1973 LDO Mavericks (one 4 Drag one 4 driving like Mad on the roads :) ) also have a 75 6cyl Stock! Ok, well sort of Stock :P
they are ok... but i think wheels would look better on a maverick with a rear wheel drive offset... theres no lip or dish on those wheels...

though newer stang wheels look nice...

I'm not too big of a fan of them, not bad, but still... I think too thick of a spoke, not enough dish, .

But as said before, if you like them...........

    Thanks for all the opinions!

    I have ruled them out.
I admit that I feel they would look good on some Mavs, just not what I have planned for mine.

For those that might be curious, they don't have nearly as much BS as a late Stang rim. They have RWD offset, HOWEVER, as noted in so many posts, they don't have much 'dish' to them.
They did this by making the lugs recessed deep behind the lug cover.
Without the center cap in place, you see that the lugs are 2-3 inches inset from the face. So they do appear to have FWD offset.

    Nice rims.
Just no use to me right now.
    Thanks again,
    Dave

ranger axles will fit in the rear, you will need 2 of the right side ones I think Mabye it's the left side ones? anyways the ranger rear is offset and you will need 2 of the same side axles and you can use the ranger drums. The front spindles will work with some machining, I think my brother macined the innerrace seat for the bigger bearing. I'll have to check and get back with you. Oh yeah, You will have to turn down the OD of the rotor to use the fairmont calipers.

I put 5-lug wheels on a '79 Fairmont Futura about 20 years ago. I used Ranger rotors on the front and had the rear axles and drums redrilled by a friend who is a machinist. You can swap the rear by using Ranger axles, but the Fairmonts & Fox Mustangs have equal length axles, where the center section of a Ranger is offset to one side. You need to use either 2 left or 2 right side Ranger axles. One of them is the correct length, but I can't remember which it is.

**I also had to machine about 1/8" off the O.D. of the rotors because they rubbed the calipers, but I have spoken with others who have not had to do this, so there may be some variations in Ranger rotors. (Obviously, since it was 20 years ago, I was using 1st gen Rnager stuff.)

At one time I was going to build a Fairmont and checked into 5 lug rotors at the auto parts store I was working in. From what I can recall a Granada rotor was the same diameter and used the same bearings as the Fairmont and a Maverick rotor should be the same as a Granada. Might try it if you got an extra rotor laying around.

As for your late model wheels........and remember this is just my opinion........
You can put an old style wheel on a new car...but NOT a new wheel on an old car.
