Someone should do a 2.5 " three dimensional mandrel pipe bend for that difficult turn as leaves the muffler , turns to the drivers side, up over the axle, down again and the straight out the back right beside the tank. You could put a part number on it and sell it to the shops that don't have the skill to go it.
IF.. someone were to offer such a kit.. would it actually fit every year and model with the correct muffler configuration? And more importantly, for a kit like that to even work across the board.. does nearly everyone installing duals on these model cars use the same exact inlet/outlet design? Me thinks it would take some careful attention to planning midsection layout to thread the needle correctly at the end. Easily doable though as most mainstream mufflers have similar case dimensions and inlet/outlet configurations.
Going in to the shop tomorrow... the drivers side is tight. I had to replace my tank and the new one is a smig bigger.
I have the Spectra Premium Fuel Tank F-30....wish I would have tried repairing the original. If anyone has duals with the Spectra tank, would love to see some photos. We'll see what they say tomorrow.
If you have a little welding skills, replace the Maverick tank with a Mustang tank. It centers the tank and moves the fuel pickup to the front of the tank instead of on the side. Also I wrote this article years ago and since then I figured out you can do away with the vent part and just convert your gas cap to a vented one just by drilling out the check valve in the cap. http://mmb.maverick.to/resources/1971-1973-gas-tank-upgrade.137/ check post #9 on this thread and it tells you how to vent your cap. http://mmb.maverick.to/threads/vent-on-gas-tank.62680/#post-638155
