I was bidding on the one on eBay but I got outbid. It sold for $19.39 which is pretty high I thought.

I was going to throw in a bid but completely forgot when the auction ended - I wonder what the seller meant by "I WAS TOLD FROM THE MATTEL STORE WHERE I GOT IT FROM THAT THEY WILL NEVER HIT THE STORES"

Well it has hit the Mattel stores where ever they are - wonder if he will go back to that store and buy a case of them now - then back to Ebay

Yeah, where are these mysterious Mattel stores? Also did you notice the "VVHTF" designation he gave? Probably just to drive the price up.

That's what gets me is why would they go through the trouble and expense to make this Maverick if the claim is that it wasn't to go to the stores to be sold?

I just got off a Live Chat with a Matell "employee" and he was no help what-so-ever - my guess it was a call center like everything else is today

I was on the phone with Mattel too and the girl started a case number with me and in the end suggested sending an email and referencing the case number. Probably won't go anywhere. And Comet Fever, VVHTF = Very Very Hard To Find.

A series of DISCO cars was in WalMart 2-3 months ago. Probably just a seasonal thing. Target and WM may designate a peghook or two the a short run series and once they sell out, they are gone. Never saw any Mavs in that series in the small amount of cars they had.

All over the net I keep seeing "Walmart exclusive" mentioned - my wife's cousin works at a Walmart - I might have to get her to look out for one for me :)

Yeah the Jukebox series is (was) a 2013 Walmart exclusive. They had four cars from each decade decorated with musical genre art, rock 'n roll for the '50s, disco for the '70s, grunge for the '90s. From what I've seen the Mavericks were in one of the last cases of Jukebox cars, but unfortunately stores sometimes will drop a series of Hot Wheels late in the year if they don't sell well at first so a lot of stores may not have received the cases with the Mavericks at all. Of the four Walmarts in my area I only saw two of them them at one store.

Here Is The Back Of My disco 001.jpg Hot Wheels Disco Maverick Card. Notice How Our Beloved Car Is Representing The Disco Series. Seems Strange That A VVHTF Vehicle Would Be Picked To Show Off That Era.

I forgot to tell you guys that I finally won a disco maverick on eBay for $7.01 with $6.95 shipping, LOL. I'm not sure why I'm so obsessed with these little cars.

    Hey John,
Glad your search is over. Was that the one that said it had the typo on the bottom? Curious on the actual typo, couldn't figure it from the pic. May end up being worth more that the average one. :yup:

Yes, it said "error". I haven't gotten it yet so I can't really say what the error is.
