It really depends on what ones your looking at, and what year car they came off. It's not just a simple bolt on.
I have '05-'09 Mustang 17" "Silver Bullitt" wheels on mine. 2" spacers in the back, 1.5" in the front. You can get away with 1.5" all around, but the rear tires get a little close to the leaf springs. Tires are stock Mustang size - 235/55/ZR17. I rolled my front fenders, but you might not have to do that if you don't lower the suspension as much as I did.
I have the same `05 takeoff rims and tires on my beater car. I needed 2" spacers for the front and 1.75 inch for the rear. No rubbing in the back. The 1.75" spacer in the front caused rubbing on the frame rail behind the tire at full lock and on the fender brace at the front at full lock. Changing to 2" fixed the rubs on the frame but I had to "adjust" the fender support bracket to make it happy. The `05 rims are an 8" wide rim with a 40mm positive offset. 40mm equates to 1.57 inches. This means that if you wanted a 0 offset, you would have to add a 1.57" spacer. This would leave you with 4"s of backspace. Since most Mavericks like about 3.75 inches of backspace on the front for 7" or wider tires, you would want 1.82" spacer installed. Some rims will work with 4" backspace on the front. My particular car and rims will not. Hence the 2" spacer.
Interesting that you were able to use 2" in the front. Does that interfere with the fender lip? I had to roll mine. And what tires are you using? I'm using 1.5" and nothing interferes unless I hit a hard bump at full lock, but if I went wider I was afraid I'd have trouble with the fender lip. Maybe the ride height makes a difference. Are you using disc brakes?
I am running the P235/55ZR17 tires that came on the rims. I suspect the difference may be that I am running the Fatman Fabrications dropped spindles on this car. The wheel mounting surface seems to be about 1/4" closer than the stock Maverick disc brake spindles. No problems with the fender lip what so ever.
