I am working on my parking brake pivot lever and was trying to figure out why my bar had 3 holes and some have 4. Looking at some of the pic posted, I discovered some have a spring going diagonal from the bar to a hole in the frame abt 16" in length . Mine has a 3 hole pivot bar w/ the spring from the cross member encasing the cable to the pivot bar. I assume the springs are for bringing the park brake handle to rest position when released. My encased spring is shot/no resistance. I modified the bar to be able to use either spring --- Problem is -- where do I get a replacement? I need to get this fixed -- been driving to long w/o it.
Just buy a generic spring like this. http://www.napaonline.com/Catalog/C...il-17-1-2-L-Overall/_/R-NDP6151100_0442965262
I am going to buy a generic spring when I find the approx. size I need. That spring is far to heavy for what I need. The coils are 1/78 dia. I have not had a chance to look for one at local auto/hardware supply yet. I am sure I will come up w/ something that will work. Thanks for the suggestion..

I figured out and solved my emergency/parking brake dilemma. I recalled I had bought a generic spring some time ago w/ using it for this purpose; worked out to be pretty darn close to what I needed. Thanks to Craig S. and Micah's supplied pictures and information in various forms I was able to get it fixed. I can't figure out how the system ever worked w/o the 4th. hole in the pivot lever. The lever look like it had never been altered - go figure! On to getting my other projects done to get the car back on the road.
