    My oldest son and I did the Pinewood Derby thing for the first time when he was 10 years old, in the Boy Scouts

    The car we made together didn't just perform well, it won out over all 40 cars entered, some by seasoned derby "pros" where the dads made the cars for their kids, not with them.

    He's 24 years old now, building big cars with me, and the trophy may be long gone, but that Derby car still sits on the "show" shelf in his room today.....I think that shows it wasn't winning that made it special, it was the experience we shared as father and son,.....because even if we'd lost, I'm pretty sure it'd still be there
