I had a 72 Pinto, 289, 4-speed, Grabbber Blue just like my Maverick. I was considering buying a friend's Grabber Blue Boss 302 so that I would have three Grabber Blue cars. He only wanted $4500 at the time (1981). Married with a kid and a mortgage at the time didn't allow it.

I had a 1971 Pinto that WAS NOT taken in for the recall to have that plate put in. I was rear ended in it by an IROC Camaro that was doing about 35-40 MPH and it didn't explode. It pushed in the tail light panel, dented the gas tank, trashed the rear bumper & lower valence on the Pinto but the IROC front end was totaled!

I know that engine had 400K documented miles on it and never was apart. It was maintained regularly and still ran good the day I sold it to a local racer! As far as I know it was the same engine in it when the car was totaled at the track.

If I could find a decent trunk model or a Cruising Wagon, I would jump on it in a heart beat! They're dependable little cars and get decent gas mileage too.

    That ain't a Pinto... That's a rocket in disguise!

With that much engine and almost no weight it's gotta fly!

Man I love my little 74 Pinto and drive it everyday. She's not much too look at right now but it gets the job done. They are really fun cars. I've already got a bunch of the parts I need for the 2.3 Turbo 5speed Turbo swap thats coming after the Maverick is on the road.

She'll look something like this when done. Probably will have some black fender flares though.

    Hello 69GT,
Sorry no I do not own a Maverick.
I Love the Body lines and the cool factory V8 option though....
I have been here on the Maverick group for a while.
The members here are very COOL and treat me well.
I have met many of them a various car shows and I like talking with them about their cars.
The members let me hang-out here and I am grateful.

:thumbs2: Hey 1973Maverick357 glad to hear you got your Pinto post pictures soon please. I’m still kicking myself in the butt for passing on the chance to buy one 2 years ago it was licensed and registered for $400. I’d trade or sell my Maverick in a heartbeat for a nice or vehicle of equal value Pinto Cruising Wagon or a V-6 Hatchback not to mention a nice Mustang II Cobra, Mach 1, or Fastback and I mean Mustang II not Mustang. What’s not to love about the above mentioned cars?

Almost 2,000 views & only 27 comments? Sheesh! Well then how about this I think the Pinto site should merge with this Comet/Maverick site they are such Cool cars.

Look where the gas tank is in your Maverick! Also in the video, look what they used to hit the Pinto with! I'm not trying to be stubborn,Dave,I've just had several Pintos and really liked them! I especially liked the early models that had the British Cortina engine! They were bullet proof! The only real problem I had with the cars was the window crank mechanism sucked! Ford's light bulb wasn't on when that part was made!:)
