You are very much correct and I made the decision to not do a test drive as it most likely would of pushed an objective approach to the purchase out the window. Maybe I should of drove it but wanted to be respectful to the seller's time (pregnant wife waiting at home) and I had decided not to purchase. Might have missed a great opportunity in driving this set up.
That car certainly was beautiful, and had an envious list of upgrades. However, if the red flags were concerning, especially at that price point, was probably best to let it go. Nothing worse than dropping 15K and ending up with regrets. lol....I have to agree that if it drove as nice as claimed, my objectivity would have gone out the window with a test drive and I would have had oil spots on my concrete.
dfrost what happened to your Maverick that you had, I remember talking with you about some parts for it many years ago. I have taken that long trip to buy a car and came back with an empty trailer as well , I learned to ask for lots of pics and descriptions and still be weary before ever attempting to do it again. There are other cars out there that will be what you desire in a car you just have to keep your eyes and ears open and hopefully it is close enough to look at without a 2 day trip involved
Yes, you provided me some very specific parts I needed when building that car. I unfortunately sold my 69.5 back in 2013 along with 3 other vehicles to free up money to buy our mortgage down during a refi. I have been able to track down the current owner and might be able to purchase it back. Here is a picture of the car just before I loaded onto the trailer. 7 years without a toy is way to long and time to correct that.
