Time to replace power steering setup on my 75 maverick, I was wondering what other car does the power steering setup interchange with?

None that I know of. Pretty easy to find parts for the Maverick set-up....plus you can get it all rebuilt (what you have already).

Gal fom RRS in the "Outback" called me yesterday to give me a price on their Rack and pinion set up. She said it is the only Rack built specifically for Mavericks $$$$$$$$$$. Maybe next year.

Power...or Manual? Oh Baby.... never shaken.

The mav is gone but i'm still here!
You can score one from someone on here, everyone ditches them in favor of a Manual setup.

When I first got the car I swapped mine out for a 73 power steering setup.
And then I realized why everyone switches them out :D

Replace or rebuild? Autokrafters makes some nice rebuild kits. Very affordable.

My wife can park my Mav with manual steering no problem at all. Shes only a little thing and has no problems driving it. I can honestly say I have not once though "I wish I had power steering". I even bumped up the Caster on mine a bit and its still easy with manual steer and the 302.
Unless you weigh about 90 pounds and have arms like toothpicks you wont have a problem with manual steering. The power set up in these old Ford cars was an awful design that has no road feel(typical of the era) and prone to leaks and wear.

I would however love to have rack and pinion some day.

i wood like to one day have up to date power steering on my mav since i plan on prolly a 92' 5.0 for efi and fuel eco reasons. i understand there will be mods galore but i no a guy who used a chevy s10 steering column on his early ford cause of decent size similarities. this setup made it easier to apply modern power steering in all its "glory" haha! really i just want this application as a means to make my mav not only one of a kind but also more of a daily driver and not just a hobby car. fun things about mavericks is its not hard to own more than one:dancing:

Mine has power steering. Ram and hoses have been replaced but pump and control valve are untouched, as far as I know, and not leaking. Biggest complaint I have is the steering doesn't return to center. Would like to know if the Maverick manual steering DOES return to center.

I think that is an item that can be fixed with an alignment.
