I recently purchased a set of global west MNR-733 control arms that came with a drop template. The problem im having is there is a support plate in the way that does not allow the template to be bolted in. I have talked with GW and they say they never seen or heard of the support my car has. They asked me to mock everything up to see if the uca is parallel to the ground and send them a picture. I will try this later today. My real question is has anyone ran into this problem and how will I be able to get an accurate assumption just by mocking it up and is the drop geometry already incorporated into my year car (1975)? Any advice would be appreciated.

    I think that's a 74-77 thing.

So would that mean the shelby drop is not possible on those models or is it not needed? When i purchased this set the description said noting of having to do a drop.

It is a later model thing as Frank stated. My 72 has the Arning drop, but the drop is incorporated into the shaft, still plenty of room. The 72 does not have the reinforcement bracket. My 75 had the same bracket you are probably talking about. That is why I never tried the drop on the 75.

My 74 had the extra metal below the UCA. I used stock style Moog UCA. That plate had to be ground for clearance, and the sides of it needed to be lowered with a hammer (fair sized). If you look closely, you can see where the spot welds on the edges broke away as the plate was lowered (ends only). There is also an additional hole in the back of the shock tower for grease gun access. The front zerk got replaced with a 90* zerk. The description of your UCAs said built in "caster." They may not have a "drop" built into them, but the above is what I had to do to drop stock UCAs.
