Pros and cons 302/351

    1972 mercury comet with a maverick front end. It has a 1992 5.0 motor in it.
    So its sounds like 351 might be the way to go. If milage is not gonna be a big issue.

    If you are going to rebuild it use a compression ratio of between 9.0 and 9.5, the biggest RV cam you can find and 1969 to 1975 heads - they all have the same chamber and valve size. You can use headers but the manifolds will work fine for your use in street and towing with 2 1/4 and 2 1/2 " pipes and mufflers.

    The EFI 351 with a light cam in a 91 bronco had better gas mileage than my wifes 89 302 bronco. towing torque also. Put a towing built AOD in and i think that would be the way to go.
