Personally I'd spend a few weekends working on the mechanicals on the wagon and maybe throw on some chrome steelies and white stripe tires and drive it around patina and all. Then finish the Maverick.

An autocross Ranch Wagon? Neh :naughty:

Stick with the FE in the wagon. FEs are cool. Maybe upgrade to a larger one. 427s and 428s are alot of dough but you can build a stout 390 reasonably.

Thanks for sharing the video Rusty!
I'm really in a pickle on what to do. Has anyone else been beat up so bad on a project that it seems all hope is lost?
The Ranch Wagon just seems like a more attainable goal at this point, plus I'm really digging it. I wouldn't want an actual autocross wagon but a sporty(ish) wagon that could turn heads on an occasional track event would be a blast.
One of the comments suggests Viper V10 the wagon and then I can find a newer Coyote 5.0 for the Maverick when it comes back...Anything there?
    Thanks again!

Nice wagon Jason!!! Sorry to hear about the loss of your friend though. Its nice that you have something of his to help keep the memories alive.
Now...Speaking form experience...Having multiple toys (projects) is nice but.
It will devide your time and $$ in ways you dont want it to. You feel like the mav is a never ending money pit/battle...It will take longer to colmplete once you dedicate time and resources to the wagon...Lets face it, the cost of building these monsters does not get cheaper as time goes on. My most recent project ( A Maverick Sprint with a 351 in it) is the reason my blue 72 mav is not done yet. The sprint set my primary project back 2 years. I wont even get into the $$. Suffice it to say, the blue mav should have been done 3 yrs ago now and driving. I have had the thing for 27 yrs and its been apart now for over 6 yrs. I Miss driving it. The light at the end of the tunnel is as close as you want it to be (Or make it be) Drive the wheels off the ranch wagon and enjoy its personality the way it is for now. Concentrate on the mav. I know I have been chomping at the bit for a few yrs, waiting for the video that shows that V10 powered beast running and driving. Havent you??? No matter what you decide, dont get discouraged...Thats how people get screaming deals on unfinished projects off of craigs list and flea bay. I wouldnt mind being the guy who gets an unfinished V-10 mav for less than its got in it soo...Get going on it man!!!
    Pete :burnout:

PS: Save the coyote plan for the wagon once the mav is done...
