His heart is in the right place, his head isn't. We all want to build the "ultimate" (at least to us) project car or restoration. The difference is we live within our means or sell it when reality sets in. He is outside his actual spending reality and wants you to fund his dream.

Want to help fund his other dream? He would probably let you do that, too.

I see this all the time in racing. The guy that posts on boards he's looking for a ride or a sponsor. He usually doesn't get very far with that approach and this guy is falling way short of his expectations, too.

Keep your money and put it in your project. Want to support a charity, pick one out and write a check to it. If you have plenty of money, send it to me, I'll spend it on one of my projects.

    SPark

It is true that most of us build cars with only our own funds, but there are LOTS of car builds funded in other ways very similar to this. There are easily half a dozen cable shows that fund car builds from entertainment dollars, sometimes with a charitable angle as well. Most of the car magazines do this at least occasionally, not too mention virtually all of professional racing is really the same thing, just cars built with funds derived from entertainment.

If you have cable or subscribe to a car magazine, some of your money is already funding other people's cars. You just didn't choose it directly.

Byron and Jamie... thanks so much for the support and really nice thoughts. You obviously "get it". People like you are the whole reason for me wanting to share the build videos from the very beginning. I have been very clear with my intent and take full responsibility for where this project is at.
It's not looking good for the campaign at this point but these little interchanges make me feel like I've gained a few new friends and that is very valuable. I don't take it for granted.
    Thanks again!
    Jason

This is a car Jay Leno should put in his collection, then maybe Dennis Gage will drive it...lol... Good luck with your project, it is a maverick that needs to be finished...

Wow, there have been some good supporters! I like the idea, and love the car. I'd love to help, but I'm tapped out for a bit, since my trip to Carlisle....

    WOW! Thanks so much.
I tell you what...if nothing else happens from my mis-guided fundraising campaign...to see the measure of giving and support from a few special people really makes me appreciate our community!
Again, thanks... but that doesn't seem to cover it.

Don't give it a second thought...the sentiment and kind words and the view on the video are honestly helpful in their own ways so THANKS!

    thats too bad.
that guy bugs. i understand how life can interfere with projects, but to ask for donations to finish the car and (surprise) not get enough, to part it out makes it all a waste. i would think that the car could be sold to some one with the resources to finish it. this car has been on the internet for so long it should be finished not parted.
well thats only my opinion and im sure im wrong in the eyes of audoedit but this is a car ive looked forward to seeing finished, not a 70s boat mustang.

If he couldn't afford to finish the Maverick, what makes him think he can afford to build the Mustang?

That was a bummer. Real fan of the videos. Curious as to how the people who donated took the ending of the project.....

I also wonder if the profits from parting the car went to the original charity that was suppose to benefit from the car in the first place.
I'm just curious I really enjoy his videos and from the surface he seems like a really good guy.
