Mavericks don't have rack & pinion. So how can yours have "broke"?...

Some members here have converted their Mavericks to rack & pinion. Most American cars of that era do not have it...

They are probably referring to the control valve which is a common problem with these units. They are available from most large auto stores and also from any Mustang supply house.

Mavaholic, are you referring to the control valve as the slave cylinder or power assist? That's really the only thing I can think of that would look like a rack, first rack came off a pinto I believe for production in 71? Think that was the year can't remember, my brain hurts, pray for me guys, took the ase exam :) will find out the results here in like 4-6 weeks

Yea, thats either your power cylinder or the control valve, or a hose somewhere inbetween it all.

The control valve is the one prone to wear. They both are prone to leaking.

well send me out your rebuild kit! mine is leaking too, ebay has the boot and stuff on ebay for like 13.00, doesn't sound like a bad price but haven't priced them out before so.... the 76 knocks like a halfshaft does while turning left... wonderin if it could be that or wheel bearings, can't remember if I checked the wheel bearing out or not but my guess is that the power assist is similar to that like a cv joint
