I'm in need of complete set of rear drum brakes for 70-72 Maverick 8" rear. If anyone has converted to discs and would like to sell their drum brakes please let me know. Thanks

I have most of it... Like an idiot I threw all that stuff in the trash thinking there's no way anybody would want it, so will have to see if I can dig out the hardware. I do have the drums, backing plates and wheel cylinders for sure.

Thanks very much for your reply. Talk about being an idiot. I have a Maverick rear in a 49 Ford I'm building. Thought I would do disc brakes all around, but didn't anticipate the expense. I too tossed the the entire drum brake system. Can't afford the discs now so I'm back to putting drums back on. I thought age brought wisdom. Doesn't seem so. Anyhow, if your interested in selling and shipping is not too much trouble let me know. My email is gmhorwath@yahoo.com or phone 904 463-0345. thanks.

I can send you what I have... But you should I know I didn't spend much at all on my rear disc brake conversion. It can be done with 100% junkyard parts. Only new stuff I bought was brake pads.

Yea, I know your right. I've already located all the parts. The problem is actually the front. If I put discs on the back I have to put them on the front. Using the original 49 spindles its not as easy. Aftermarket brakes run around $500. This thing is getting expensive. I think I'll sit on it for a while. Probably will end up going with discs. It would have been a pain for you so I really appreciate your willingness to help.

is it a specific year or size for the junkyard disks that are needed?

I converted my 70 Maverick to 5-lugs and used a 8-in. axle from a Grabber but the brake backing plates were missing. I made a cardboard template of the bolt pattern that was needed to mount them and surprisingly it matched a 69 Ranchero. Side by side they are much wider and bigger around. They made a great differance in stopping. Also put disks on the front from a 77 Granada. You'll be glad you did.
