Here's a question that I never thought I would be asking. In all the years and all the mavericks that I have owned. The latest addition doesn't have the rear deck lid spoiler and I want to add one BUT the rear quarter extentions are flush with the trunk lid now. Let me see if I can post a picture to show you what I have now and what I want and maybe someone can tell me for sure what I need to do. I think I know the answer but not sure about the part #'s and stuff This is what I have now notice there is no spoiler on the trunk lid but the extentions on the quarters are flush with the lid it's self. Now my thought is if I put the spoiler on the trunk lid then it won't match the extentions on the quarters This is what I want to end up with. Do I have to get different Rear quarter extentions too?
Oh and BTW neither of those are my car they are just examples of what I have and what I want to have. My Car is yellow like the first picture but that one is not mine. So anyway thanks in advance for any advice or information
You need to purchase different Quarter Exts. , a Spoiler & use your lower pieces off your Quarter ext. Maverick Man has new spoilers & all the mounting Hwd. Good Luck
Thaks for the information. That is kind of what I thought but I wanted to make sure before I buy anything. Now if I find Rear quarte ext. on Ebay of some place like that how do I know they are the correct ones?
Just make sure they are from a car that had a rear spoiler on it. The correct ones are alittle taller the most. 71/72 Maverick Grabbers had spoilers & correct Qt. Ext.
Best thing to do is NOT to buy them separately. Get the entire setup either used, new from Maverickman (recommended), or repop. You need at least 3 pieces to make it right, but sometimes they come with all 5. The lower 2 parts can come from your car though, if it is a 70-72. The extra 2 lower extensions often come with the set for guys that have a later car (bumper conversion) and need those as well. If you buy a used original, make sure that it also specifically states it has all the hardware. That stuff is nearly impossible to find piecemeal. The highest quality will come from Maverickman. His spoiler is carbon fiber and goes right on without fitting, or even painting if you like. It also is much stronger than fiberglass, of course. Add to that, the cost for his high quality part will be about the same as you can find an old original on eBay cost wise. For some reason, I get these things given to me or pick them up cheap left and right, but folks still see the need to pay 2 bills for a complete set on eBay. If you keep your eyes open, they are around for the taking without getting raped. If you want it right now though, better bring your own KY jelly for an original.
yeah I have noticed the complete sets are high $$$ on ebay. I tend to hold what I have till I find the price I am willing to pay. I guess it comes from working hard for my $$$..... hahahaha. Thanks for all the advise I appreciate it.
Actually there was a time that I thought I needed a spoiler for my Mavs right away. Instant gratification... Anyway, I just backed up and waited. Then the things started falling into my lap without even looking for them. I wanted 2 sets, one for each car, but now I have 4 sets with almost no money invested. I am going to hang on to the extra 2 sets for the day that eBay addicts start paying 500 bux a set. J/K... That reminds me, I have a line on another set I was supposed to check into.
my maverick is a 72 and I got my spoiler off of a 73 or 74? I knew it was one of those later models because it had the larger bumpers. It fits perfectly though.
