Hi everyone. I have a 72 Maverick and the front seats are ripped on the part you sit on, and there is a tear on the driver's side where your back goes. Right now I have a blanket over the seats but I don't know whether to just buy some seat covers (which I can't find any good looking ones) or if I should replace the seats and try and find some nicer ones from a Maverick (which I doubt they'd be in perfect condition)... or if I should go somewhere and get them reupholstered... I'm sure you all have had this problem. What's best/easiest?
It depends on how much money you want to spend. Nothing will look as good as new upholstry, but then, thats always the more expensive way to go.
You could go the ' cheaper ' route and get another set of seats from another Maverick, but keep in mind that the stitching will be over 30 years old and likely to come apart. You could very well end up right back were you started from, only then you would have two sets of seats that are coming apart. So much for the ' cheaper 'route. Getting the seats reupholstered is the more exspensive way to go, but the end results are well worth the price.
I'd like to get them reupholstered. Do you know about how much it costs? Estimate?? Also, the back seats are in good condition except they are a bit ripped on the top part.
I got a quote to get some done. pretty expensive front and back for $525. if you have the money to get them redone do it.
We paid out around $600 to do the front and back seats of my 77' Maverick. The two buckets and the rear seat of our Stallion was $300, but that was because while the guy doing the seats, we were fixing his truck.
I had my 77 done for $450 and my Sprint cost over $1000. The difference is night and day. You usually get what you pay for.
