Soooo... Anyone watched the shootout featuring the Maverick, Crown Vic Police Interceptor, S-10 & Chevy Luv? I won't spoil it by giving details other than competition includes drag race, burnout contest, a bit of cone racing, etc. Mav has four lug suspension with transplanted small block.
Yeah that Luv was surprisingly nice. From '79 til '87 I used two different Luv as service vehicles. After second replacement head gasket began leaking, the first was sent to another unit and I was issued the "spare". That one already had around 45K miles(but approx 30K less than first), was past 110K mi, when all the Luv were sold(we started with 10, I think six were still in service). One had been converted to a flat bed for hauling large garden tractors. In all, I drove the things for approx 140K mi. Gotta say were totally gutless & I never missed either one. The new shortie, fuel inj, E-150 with 300 I-6 was a fireball in comparison.
