I was wondering if anybody knows of any/ or have used any seatbelts for an early comet/maverick that are retractable... Did any of the later year cars come with retractables? Any other cars that might be a good "donor" for some black retractable seat belts? P.S. Looking for front seat belts, not rear! Thanks for the help!
PM Hawkco and ask him about the belts in his '77. He bought them aftermarket from somewhere (damned if I can remember where) and they were a perfect fit for these cars. My '74 Grabber had retractable belts, but I learned my lesson when I wrecked that car about using old belts. If the car will be driven on a regular basis, please put new belts in. The 31 year old belts in my Grabber snapped like they were nothing in the wreck and I got thrown into the rearview mirror/dash.
there were a few articles on google when i typed in mercury comet seatbelts and i saw some stuff about recalls on some of the belts. could yours have been one of them? who knows. something to look into though
retractable seat belts in a 1791 Comet I am using retractable seat belts out of a 1969 Torino. They work with the shoulder belt and with the seat. They fit like they were made for the car.
