Shift Linkage Grommets

    '72 Comet '62 Falcon '58 Morris Minor
    Where would I get some shift linkage grommets for a '72 Comet with column shift?They are little rubber deals that connect the rods with the pivot points on the linkage. Most cars I have worked on have a rubber grommet,washer and cotter pin,but not the Comet.I discovered this when the linkage fell off yesterday,no gear but Drive. At least I could go forward.

    There should be a package with several assorted sizes in the Help! section of your local auto parts store.

    Ford still stocks most of them too.

    Thanks for the info. I'm going to try the local Ford dealer.I didn't notice before posting but the factory manual has almost 2 pages devoted to the grommets with pictures of a special tool used on them.Who knew? Didn't have this problem with my Falcon or Morris.

    '72 2d to hold my trailer down with.
    The Ford dealer should have them on the shelf.
    They are a pain in the ass to replace.
