if you want grip get drag radials they hook real well and theyre not as expensive as some of the "high performance" tires that are supposed to give you more grip. I paid $450 for my drag radials I havent had them spin on me yet but Im only running a healthy 302 putting out MAYBE 350hp
I was referring to harleyGAa comment but my drag radials smoke once they finally get real good and hot but they dont leave much of a mark they chew through the pavement on the street leaving a hole or groove
Here's my advice: Don't waste your money on Coopers, BFG or Mastercraft. They're ALL CRAP now. Last set I bought, one tire made it home (7 miles) then came apart in the car port. (right rear 275/60-15) Left rear came apart a month later. Both front tires were out of round so bad they never stopped shakin and took tons of wheelweights to balance. Had both rear replaced and they lasted about 2 years. The fronts replaced with mastercrafts and they were no different than the Coopers. Then went to BFG radial T/A's. They too were out of round and didn't last but a couple years before separating. Have since gone to Toyos and Kuhmos. They run true. Don't like the lettering so I run em blackwall. But they're round. The Mastercrafts, Coopers and BFG's are all made at the same plant in Mexico.
I use the BFG Radial T/A's and have had good luck. Had to replace the fronts.....they were on there over 10yrs and just worn out!
BFGs on the last Three Cars we built .. No Problems .. Ran true .. Still on Two of the Cars Now .. Ran Drag Radials on the 408 for a while .. and they Hooked Up Great !! Got Balder by the week .. ... Cometized (Chip)
