ok here is what's going on . . . lotsa work . . . took the seats out, took the seat belts off and took the carpet off . . . I started scraping all the seam sealer which was coming off very easily and scraping off some of the rust This is what it looks like with the loose rust scraped off and you can see the tranmission hump that I partially cut out. Took a dremel to the rest. This is after one coat of rust bullet. I did pretty much no prep, just took off the loose rust off and vacuumed everything and dusted it off a bit. Here the transmission hump is all cleaned up: Overall the rust bullet was really easy to put on. It's important to put on 2 coats but I only did one. just was too lazy to do a second coat. it's cool, in some areas you can see some tiny little bubbles where the rust bullet is neutralizing the rust.
Not to bad in the way of rust. The only thing I wud have done different wud have been to wash the floor w/ some metal prep or something to make sure any dirt, grease or oil was removed B4 putting on topcoat/Rust Bullit. I did do 2 coats but I did'nt have to do the entire floor. Anyway, it looks real gud. Now for the Faatmat.
thanks guys . . . taking longer than I expected, need to go back and harrass Bryant so we can finish up the engine and fix a little leak on the transmission but I want to get this done since it's just too loud in the car. it's my daily driver now.
oh man I hear it . . . I heard it all the way to knott's berry farm I'm gonna post pics of the fatmat installation soon. should be able to get a lot of work done it this thursday and maybe friday.
here is the sound deadener installed. the seats are back in place. I put sound deadener on most of the surface but there is still spots left. The trunk is done as well. This is the trunk after I cleaned it up and took everything out. This is after the fatmat is all installed. I had to relocate the nitrous bottle, that took a little too much time but it's done. Had to relocate the MSD box in order to be able to get the Amp to fit and the bazooka tube as well. I spent the whole day on the car, it was great. As I mentioned before I got a lot of the sound deadener installed. I redid a lot of the wiring. I also rerouted the nitrous feed line under the car. I ran the RCA wires and the speaker wires and it sounded really nice. I poked a small hole into one of the speakers by mistake so I get a lot of distortion from one of the speakers but that's no big deal. I'm spending the rest of the time trying to clean up the wiring under the dash, it's unbelievable what a mess I've made over the past few years installing everything.
Stero Upgrade Hi Mashori, It seems as ur looking gud w/ the upgrade. Nice of U to post all the pix. I still have some Fatmat left on my roll to install. I have been motivated by ur progress to get more done on mine. I have'nt did the trunk, doors and the rear seat "MDF" panel now. It got cold here b4 I cud get to those items. Floors, rr seat quarters and inner wh wells done. The last few weeks I have bn to busy doing altenator, elec fan, new frt spring, alum rad and pw steering upgrades/repairs to be concerned abt stero. I thought I had some wires in the dash - nothing compared to what I see here. What kind of performance do u get from the Bazooka Tube? With all u have in the trunk - Not much room for groceries or luggage. LOL Anyway, like what ur doing.
Haha, yes the carpet . . . I'm only putting it in if it makes me faster! Thanks for the compliments. It's coming together well, the bazooka sounds really good. It's very crisp and didn't get distortion with it turned up high. It's 150watts rms so that's plenty for me. I have to still finish the rest of the fatmat install on the firewalls, finish the wiring under the dash, put the rear firewall back in, put the seats back in and then drive it around.
Done! Finally, that was a lot of work. But not difficult, just took a lot of time. I installed the front speakers, ran the speaker wires under the carpet and added some more sound deadener. I tuned the amp as well as I could but didn't really get it right I think because the sound system honestly doesn't sound that much better than stock. I feel a little more deeper bass but the sound is not impressive. I'm still very happy. Let me say this, the car is INCREDIBLY more quiet. It's impressive actually. Never gotten so much bang for the buck than spending $100 on sound deadener and 1-2 days of labor. I haven't done the doors yet, it's not hard I just forgot I cleaned up the wires a lot under the dash. It's almost as good as I imagined. I am very happy with the everything under the dash. I also redid all the wires that were running inside the car, I cut them and ran them in the door sill. But looks good. I ran all the wires out of that second hole above. The lower hole I cut out a long time ago to accommodate the 5.25" speaker. It's hard to see but this is so much better than before. Everything is tucked in really nicely. Lotsa zip ties. I realized I have a lot under that dash. There is a GPS I wired in, the cigarette lighter, the head unit stereo, the remote door locks, the nitrous switch and . . . . ok that's it I think. I wasn't able to do too much to the middle of the underdash. This place still looks messy but it's pretty clean believe it or not. Most of the wires are the factory wires that I took apart. This is the mess I had before, it was actually a lot worse but it's a lot better now. I ran all the wires in that little sill. Can't believe I fit everything in there. There is wires for the nitrous, for the fuel pump, for the MSD ignition and some other stuff. And the interior is all back together. Yes, I need a new carpet.
