Will the starter from a 71 200ci swap with a 72 302? If so, does model year matter?

    Thanks, Mark

Nope, but the only difference is the mounting cone. When the starter went out in my 71 with the 170, I took a good 302 starter and swapped the cone from the 170 and installed it in my 71 with no problems. Its still going strong.

it also makes a difference wether you have a std. trans or an automatic. the std. is only used on the 170's and 200's. the auto. one is the same one used on many other engines such as the 390,428,250,351,430,also the 144,170,and200 and some 250's. i just bought a new starter from checkers for a 144-6 in a 62 falcon. cost about $50.
