Stripped Flare Nut - Now What?

    Robert, yeah I found the fitting yer talking about much to my relief :) I broke it loose and then hand tightned it back down there probably isn't any more fluid in the lines I really don't care if it all drains out cause I have to replace the Master Cylinder and then flush the lines anyway. I'm gonna go ahead and replace the lines now that I know exactly what I need to do the passgener one won't be as big a headache as originally thought I'll give the drivers side another wack if I strip it oh well I'll just replace that line too. I'm wondering if I should also replace the Differential valve or whatever thats called that the lines from the Master Cylinder run too (where the Brake Warning Light connects). I'm unsure as to it's condition internally and the Brake Warning Light does not work isn't it supposed to come on when the Parking Brake is Engaged? I know it should pop on if one of the systems doesn't work, well the Front Brakes are clearly disabled right now and it don't come on so i'm wondering whats up with it. Anyways thanks for all the help guys :).

    The light does not come on with the E-brake at least mine does not the light comes on when the brake pedal goes to the floor somewhat. It would be a good idea to change the Proportioning valve don't know how hard it is to get a new one

    Man, I would just cut the steel break line off with a dremel cut-off-wheel or some other cut off wheel. Take the mess on out. Put it in a vise, then grip the snot out of it with the vise grips.

    Reflair the original steel line (don't forget to put the fitting on) and reasemble the joker. Some times fighting with it just aint worth the trouble. Just redo it. Its faster!

    No need to cut anything mark_b but thanx anyways. I've already given up on trying to remove it I'm just gonna replace the lines (both driver and passenger) I'll bring the original lines into Napa and see what they can do as far as flarin me some new ones. I'll do this when I buy the new brake hoses and hopefully the new Wheel Cylinders then put everything together along with the new Master Cylinder I have here and then i'll finally have a car with a brand new braking system that can stop heh. Alot of money goin out but I gotta do it or else get a big rock and use it as an anchor j/k :).

    Update

    Ok new brake lines installed took about two days due to limited avalible time to work on the car. I got them at Napa took awhile and a trip to their main warehouse store in the area here to find the right ones and the adapters needed for the brake hoses. The lines were a major pain in the arse to install not so much the bending process that was actually quite easy. The main problem was routing them correctly cause the replacement lines were slightly longer then the stock ones plus I had to compensate for the adapters, the main concern I had was the upper control arm hitting them. I need to figure out what i'm gonna do about vibration though the rubber gromments the lines go through in the frame chipped off when I was removing the old lines I pieced one back together and stuck it on there but I doubt it will hold forever plus the stock lines had an extra thick layer of steel in certain places where it would vibrate the replacement lines do not :(. Gonna try and invent something to compensate for that though. Also got the new wheel cylinders and brake hoses at Auto Zone got them installed now I just gotta put the new Master Cylinder on and I "should" be in business. I have no way to bench bleed it outside of the car as I do not own a bench vise so I have to do it on the car with the brake pedal and probably a mirror :). Keepin my fingers crosses here this is my first real complete brake overhaul (we all have to learn sometime) just praying to God I did everything right. I guess I just need to have faith in myself here although everytime I press that brake pedal to stop at stop sign or light i'm gonna wonder can't help it though I do that as it is sometimes with any car I drive. Next stage is the testing part I'll let you all know how that goes.

    Hardwear stores have bins of them in all deferent sizes. Lows or homedepo have them too

    Drums

    Argh just when I think I have everything done and the braking system is complete I realize that one of my front drums has a bigger inside diameter then my other one. I noticed my right front shoes weren't completley disengaging after being applied so at the suggestion of a friend I went to switch the drums to see if maybe it was the grooves in the right front drum causin it and not the springs then I realize the drum on the left has a larger diamerer so naturally this screws up the whole program cause now one wheel cylinder will have to work harder then the other and the preasure will be uneven :( darn it..

    Guess i'll try and get the grooved drum turned to match the the left one if it can be saved. I'll also have the left one inspected while i'm at it to make sure it's diameter isn't too thin. I really do not have the cash for new drums right now given how expensive front drums are. I know I know all the more reason to convert to front disc which I will do sometime in the future believe me this is getting a tad irritating :mad:
