Ok first I'm not very good. With cars. I want to put a bigger engine in my 75 Mac but I have no clue what will fit and what else will have to change. Also I want more gears at the least 4. If I change the engine out will hhave to change everything in the engine compartment. Help me figure out..
Easiest engine swap is a 302 based motor. I'm assuning you have a 6 cylinder now. These cars also came stock witht he 302 so it will fit right in. You can also stroke them to 331 or 347. You can find all the info you need by using the search feature. Just type in v8 swap or 302 swap. Should get lots of threads.
Just as Don mentioned. Also, about the transmission, if you want more manual gears, I would recommend looking into either a 4-speed or a T-5 swap. If you can get a deal on a 4-speed, then that would probably be your cheapest route, as you can re-use most of your current clutch parts.
