Hey i have an 8.75 inch rear end on my 5.0L maverick. been researching the availability of varried differentials and have read in a few places that the 9" rear end differentials are interchangable and then i have read elsewhere that they are not... whats the deal? i think i have the WER-T (3.07:1), its late and i dont want to crawl on the wet driveway to check but im pretty sure thats what i have. I got it out of a 77 (i think?) granada. I am simply doing research and looking into a possible bump in ratio. thanks!

WER rears were discontinued in late '70s, AFAIK only factory gears were avail, no aftermarket support... No idea whats still available...

    Basically it's a predecessor to the 8.8"...

Ford never made a 8.75" rearend. That's Chrysler. The rear you are talking about is a 8.7" (yeah, I know it's really close), and as mentioned, had highway gears with c-clip axles and no limited-slip option.
